Global calculation conventions for Nimitta Vidya. These settings explain how charts are computed across the app.
Nimitta Vidya uses a Tropical Rāśi / Sidereal Nakshatra policy. Vedic rāśi signs in this app are solstice-based (tropical). Nakshatras are star-based (sidereal). Ayanamsha is applied from tropical longitude to the nakshatra reference frame — it does not redefine tropical rāśi signs, houses, or yogas.
This page is read-only. There is no global switch to change the zodiac system for the whole app unless a future release adds explicit support.

Tropical
Sign labels, house cusps, and lordship use tropical ecliptic longitude.
Houses
Whole-sign (tropical)
House 1 is the whole tropical sign of the Ascendant; houses 2–12 follow zodiac order.
Nakshatra
Sidereal
Nakshatra and pada are computed from sidereal longitude (tropical minus ayanamsha).
Ayanamsha
Lahiri (default 24.1°)
Offsets tropical longitude to the star-based nakshatra frame. Never applied to tropical rāśi signs.
Vimshottari anchor
Sidereal Moon nakshatra
Dasha sequence starts from the Moon's sidereal nakshatra lord at birth.
D9 / Navamsa
Tropical rāśi divisional
Navamsa signs are derived from tropical rāśi longitude, not sidereal signs.
Transits
Tropical signs & houses
Current-sky planet signs and whole-sign houses use tropical longitude; nakshatra metadata is sidereal.

Sidereal rāśi reference
An optional sidereal sign column may be shown for comparison with traditional Jyotiṣa tables. Display only.
Traditional Vedic headlines like "Jupiter in Cancer" usually mean sidereal Cancer. This app labels tropical Cancer separately and marks sidereal Cancer as "Sidereal reference only" when shown.
